Ron Gilbert started to work on Monkey Island 2 - Le Chuck's Revenge as soon as he completed The Secret of Monkey Island. He says he did it so soon because there was nothing else to do and especially so that noone would come up with the question if this game is really needed, as at that time it was not even sure that Monkey Island would be that successful game it became in the end.

The second part of Monkey Island plays in the Carribean again. This time around Guybrush Threepwood is a pirate already and searching for a big treasure, the biggest treasure of them all, Big Whoop! There are 2 different difficulty levels for Monkey Island 2 - Le Chuck's Revenge.
