Introduction
About the game
This is a football (or soccer) game that was released only for the Sega Master System to coincide with the 1992 European Championships (the ones that Denmark won).
The Introduction section from the manual says:
Your chance to be a champion has arrived!
With CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE you can play any of the 34 qualifying teams in the real life UEFA Championships. Choose a team to practice your skills, penalties and goalkeeping. Then play a single game or the complete UEFA tournament against the Master System or a friend. With all action taking place in an accurately scaled, multi directional scrolling pitch with proportional players, pitch markings and goals, there is nothing closer to real soccer.
Tecmagik have developed an 'instinctive' control method that enhances both realism and playability. The ball travels ahead of the player as it would in a real game and requires skill to control both dribbling and tackling. Eight on screen intelligent referees each with unique characteristics will be watching play closely at all times with red and yellow cards ready when necessary.
Added to this are features like penalties, throw ins, substitution, extra time and sudden death penalty knock out.
This fast paced action game also offers many pre-play options allowing you to select game length, wind speed and tactics as well as one or two player mode.
You will need skill and determination to master CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE, but anything worth winning is not won easily and when your UEFA trophy appears on screen you will know you are a real Champion!
