Commodore 64 - 0 Famicon Disk System - 0 Game Boy/ GBColor - 0 Genesis - 0 Nintendo 64 - 1 Playstation - 0 SegaMaster System - 3 Super Nintendo - 0 If the claim was a 3-round period, that may disaude some users, especially ones that can churn out a guide weekly or passer-bys. For a project that I have a good chance of completing several guide for, I would prefer to be able to claim when I want. Unless, the idea is that you can only have a maximum of 3 claims at one time or can only renew your claim 3 times. --- AllowGameFAQ users to Track Guides by signing this petition- www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=44545278 |

@ Games The draft would only be for determining STARTING claims. Everyone who wanted to participate in the draft would signup in advance and lots would drawn for draft order. Then each person in turn would claim a game. After everyone has a claim, lots would be drawn again and there would be second round followed by a third. After the draft is done, the remaining games would be open to claims byanyone in the project topic on a first come first served basis just like inthe NES project. All claims would have a time limit (maybe 12 months or so) but writers would have the option of requesting an extension if needed. To me a draft seems like the best way to give everyone an equal chanceat getting to FAQ the games they want. Brian |

Sounds a little complicated to me Brian. What's wrong with the current system of just claiming a game when you
want to FAQ it? Deviating from this will only dissuade passers by like Games said. |
Games | Posted 10/10/2009 9:18:31 PM | message detail |
If we did something like Brain is suggesting, I would only want it done ONCE. Any more than that and some people
may claim for games that others want and can complete before the claimer has finished his/her guide. It does make a bit of sense,
but 3 rounds is TOO much.

I must not be explaining this properly, I believe it is a good idea that's not even close to complicated so
please bear with me. Let's say that we decide to start a project on November 1st. That weekend we have a 3 round draft where everyone gets to claim one game each round. Now everybody has three games they can work on. Once you submit aguide, you can post a new claim in the project topic just like in the NES project. If you didn't participate in the draft, you'll be able to post claims in the project topic starting November 1st. The draft would be a ONE TIME thing done at the very beginning of the project just to give everyone a fair chance. The process shouldn't be that complicated and three rounds could easily be done in a single weekend. There are two major problems with just creating a topic and doing first come, first serve. The biggest problem is that it would be a free-for-all and would create confusion as everyone posted at once trying to get their claims in, and you know there are going to be some that claim five or more. Second is that we are spread out across the entire globe and that no matter when the topic is posted, some of us will be sleeping and will miss out. Of course, these are just suggestions, if you still feel we don't need a draft then we don't have to do one. Brian |

If everyone else thinks it is a good idea, I'll go with it. However, I would prefer that the selection process
happens only once (as in, everyone chooses ONLY one game to FAQ before the first topic is created as previously mentioned). Again,
I can choose 3 with ease if I have to for this selection. Also, Brain, are you going to be maintaining a website for this CP? If so, I have a list of incomplete games for the SMS that I will send to you. I would also like to mention that there are 189 games without a guide for the SMS version of the game, if this CP will also cover games that have guides on another system. --- Allow GameFAQ users to Track Guides by signing this petition- www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=44545278 |

I don't know if you got a chance to read his post before he deleted it, but Cow actually nominated you to set
up the site! He also suggested trying to get something going before the end of Columbus Day. I'll do it if you or nobody else wants to, just don't expect anything fancy, it'll probably just be a pure html site created in Notepad and hosted on webs.com. If you have a list, that would save some time, I also like your idea of listing games that only have a guide for another system. Brian |

I could make something up. Here's an idea (minus the information) of what I may do:
http://glacoras.net16.net/archimedes.html Pleasegive any criticism to the LAYOUT of the page (content is for my Archimedes Project and the site needs updating anyway). --- AllowGameFAQ users to Track Guides by signing this petition- www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=44545278 |

I like it Keith, but to make things a little easier on you (if you manage the site), you may want to ignore
the Release Date, Developer and Publisher and only stick to the "important" ones. That's what I think

That looks good! When you set up the SMS, it might be helpful to have a way to indicate if a game is lightgun or 3D. |
Games | Posted 10/11/2009 12:29:42 AM | message detail |
^ Will do. That page I linked to was a private project to get more Archimedes games on this site, which is why
that information is there. Unless there is a request for more information, the only headers I will have in my tables are:
Game Name - Does this need an explaination? Guide - Indicates what guide there already is for the game (if any). Will test it out without any images like the NES project has. In the "Complete" section, this will link to the guide completed for this version of the SMS CP (if that is fine with the author) or will be removed completely Author - Person who claims the game/completes the game. In the "Compete" section, this will link to the person's Contribution Recognition (if that's fine with everyone). I will probably also include a "Statistics" page, but have not thought too much about it. --- AllowGameFAQ users to Track Guides by signing this petition- www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=44545278 |

Previous post was to vinheim.
it might be helpful to have a way to indicate if a game is lightgun or 3D. What do you mean by this? Is it if you need to use a special ("Gun") controller for the game or not? If so, I may include a "Notes" section to include information about wich games are JP only and anything else required for the game (if known). --- Allow GameFAQ users to Track Guides bysigning this petition- www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=44545278 |
vinheim | Posted 10/11/2009 12:38:40 AM | message detail |
Yeah, that could work too. The author of their respective FAQ could post some notes about the game of their FAQ,
whether it needs a"special" controller, or the game is JP, etc. That will be helpful.

There are some games that require a light gun and there are a handful that require special 3D glasses to play.

I think you need to add them to the list because the full circle FAQ only contains Safari Hunt.
It was mentioned in the NES project that a compilation is considered complete when all the games have been covered, so it might be easier to just list Marksman/Trap Shootingand then have a note telling the submitter to crosslist it with Marksman/Trap Shooting/Safari Hunt. Brian |

When will the SMS project officially start? Just making the "home page" of the site and think that this information
may be good to know. Also, who will manage this "three round selection" idea that Brain has been talking about? --- Allow GameFAQ users toTrack Guides by signing this petition- www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=44545278 |
BHodges080 | Posted 10/11/2009 9:25:06 PM | message detail |
It can start whenever you're ready, just create a new topic "SMS
Completion Project Part 1" that lists the site home page and any special policies/rules you want to mention. If you don't want to do a draft,
you can just say that the topic is now open to claims and we should be all set. Brian |
Games | Posted 10/11/2009 9:53:21 PM | message detail |
I've got the home page and the incomplete page done. I need to finish the statistics page and then I will make
the topic. I plan on starting this project tomorrow, unless anyone feels there should be some delay.

Good choice on the SMS for the next one. I agree it is the best choice.
Out of interest, are the old topic/website still around for the first time we tried the SMS project? Would be good to include those stats in any completed section as well, as I feel a lot of those guides wouldn't have been written without the completion project. Up to you of course though. --- ~ Ringworm ~ |
Games | Posted 10/12/2009 9:39:29 AM | message detail |
If someone can find the stats, I will probably include them. However, it is not a major concern
if we do not have that information. I am looking at getting the project started at 4PM (GMT) today, so everyone has an idea of when to come to this board. Until either an hour has past OR someone posts in the topic, I will not claim any games to provide other users with a fair chance of getting the game they want. --- Allow GameFAQ users to Track Guides by signingthis petition- www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=44545278 |
