BTW selmiak, who's Captain Guapo (handsome)?

@Andrew Shinn:
did you sign up as Cpt.Guapo on the external page? Anyone?

I don't know. May the real Cpt.Guapo please stand up!

@selmiak: Is it possible to have a forum at the SMS site?

Of course this is possible, but as TD already mentioned, there is no need for that. And for chit chat, there is the fcbs. At least if you can find it under the tons of random topics. ;)

From: vinheim | Posted: 5/25/2010 6:09:16 AM | #047
selmiak, is it possible to add the category of the games in the incomplete list? Just to know at least which game is what platform, because there might be some types of games some authors won't touch, like me, I won't go near sports (includes racing) games. I'd take platform and RPG anything, and basically everything, except sports.

Ringworm already had the perfect idea, just click on the gamename and you can see it here on GF.
And I wouldn't know where to fit this into the compact layout...

From: Games | Posted: 5/24/2010 7:55:43 PM | #045
I would much rather see selmiak work on guides than the site.

me too. ;)

OMFG, finally finished my Psychic World. Wonder which game I'll tackle now. Maybe I'll do a JAP game.

If you want a Japanese game, I would suggest Mahjong Sengoku Jidai, to finish the Misc section (again, not sure if all these games have full guides). Requires knowledge of how to play Mahjong - I have no idea about that. Hopefully someone here does.

Eternal_Debate | Posted 5/27/2010 9:00:06 AM | message detail
Just quickly checked and this is the only Misc game that needs a full FAQ now that Sonic Spinball has a full circle guide.

Most other Japanese games can have a guide written by anybody, as they are fully in English, of the ones I have played without FAQ's, Nekkyu Koshien is the only other one that really needs any Japanese language knowledge to write a full guide for (still easily playable without it) - this game is a baseball game though, so doubt you would be interested if you dislike sports games.

vinheim | Posted 5/27/2010 1:07:13 PM | message detail
Yeah, I like Mahjong, so maybe I'll do that one. On the other hand, despite that I dislike sport games, Nekkyu Koshien is a pretty nice and fun game, although it can be annoying at times. I'll play Nekkyu Koshien some more at work today, and if I like it, I'll claim it. Besides, I think I'll be able to translate the game since it only uses Katakana (thankfully no kanji) I believe, so yeah, that's pretty easy.

Also, I have the program that Devin sent me to write japanese characters.

You know what?! "F" it, i'll do Nekkyu Koshien. I'll do my best to get this JAP game done. If this one goes fairly well, I'll probably start tackling the JAP games to get them out of the road.

Had a bit of a look at the Japanese games list again, Tensai Bakabon has a lot of Japanese in it too, this seems to be the only remaining one (haven't got a few of the sports games to check these) - think that is in katakana too. Got no idea what to do in that game, but if you knew Japanese I think it'd be easy enough.

World Cup game is done (not submitted yet), taking a short break for now before taking on my next game. I'll probably go for Ultimate Soccer so that I can reuse some of the guide. I'll have a better look tonight though before claiming anything.

@ED, Is the USA '94 world cup game the same as the Italian '90 world cup game? Just thinking that if there is just some small differences between the games, you could easily write a guide for that game as well (if you have it).

Nah, they are a fair bit different. '94 is a horrible game, try navigating the menus to just play a match and you will see what I mean. They are both soccer games, that is about all they have in common.

Here's another boring statistic that I hope will get someone commenting.

We would need to cover another 42 games to get over 75% of the SMS games with a complete, full guide.

42 if you actually want the statistic to be => 75%.

40 and 41 will only give you something like 74.??% that will round up to 75% (but probably not, due to how the stats are on the website).

World Cup Italia '90 submitted. It's still the 8th in some countries, so got it submitted on the day I wanted, even if it is the 9th here now. Wasn't around yesterday unfortunately.

Think I'll claim Tennis Ace as my next guide, with Wimbledon starting shortly. Would have written for the game Wimbledon, however both these games have guides. Might get something written before the end of the tournament, but with the World Cup about to start (among other things), won't have much writing time. Yeah, I know I was considering another guide (Ultimate Soccer from memory and Danan the Jungle Fighter before that), but I'm liking this themed writing stuff right now. I'll get to those games evntually if they are still available then (maybe).

Uploading Great Soccer. Hopefully, it will be accepted today (past Midnight in the UK), as it would be great to have a football guide on the same day as the start of the world cup.

It'l be interesting to see how many hits your FAQ gets actually Games. The World Cup Italia one I posted a couple of days ago has already had as many hits as the rest of my SMS game ones combined for the entire week. (16 if anybody was interested). Guess a few people check out the What's New page anyway.

I think it was mentioned in a hits topic not long ago that a certain number of hits per day for most files are from automated crap the server does (it came up because some of us have files for games that would otherwise not be viewed at any frequency but were getting something like 10 hits a day).

Since Games didn't post it here and some don't visit the SMS CP's page at selmiak's, I'll write it down here:

Games has decided to create a topic about the SMS Project on the SMS System Board. Here is a direct link to that topic:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/916382-sega-master-system/55136553

Just to post that and bump this topic before it purges >_>

^ I decided to not post it here at the moment to see if there would be any sort of interest from that board. Maybe if some users decide to claim some games, they could post in that topic to try and get some help from that board?

@selmiak, would it be possible to use ½ values within the FAQ Contributors stats? It has started to bother me that imperator (SP?) has half the % completed as other users with the same amount of contributions.

Now, for the reason why I am actually posting in this topic. Strider II has a guide for it already, but marked as incomplete. I have just read through the guide and would personally consider it complete (it covers all 5 levels for the game). If anyone else agrees with me after reading it, is there anyway we can get SB to change that guide to the "Completed" status?

I have access to the game, yeah.

Thought I'd bump the topic on the other board the other day, if anyone hasn't checked it out, I was asking for who certain players in Tennis Ace were meant to be. Anybody here good at their early 90's female tennis players?

Hahaha, modded! XD

Oh man, Nekkyu Koshien is "very hard" to write for, both because the game controls are unresponsive and because it's in japanese. Oh, I can't forget that both of my HDDs decided to stop working. Man, I'll get 2 500 GB HDDs later tonight =P.

In theory, the last 100 some odd games shouldn't take long to finish off, as most of them are relatively short and there are few JAP games to worry about.

For everyone wondering why I have not claimed anything for a while, it's just that I am too busy and have other projects I am working on. I would love to see some guides finished soon related to this project, but I can not see that happening for a while. Really hope someone will prove me wrong.

I will finish california games soon. But the next week is still busy, but maybe I can find some time. Otherwise there will be no guides in july. Well, I think the winter monthes are more productive for computer related voluntary stuff ;)

And it is interesting who the new member is in case he really contributes something to link the contribution somehow. Anyways I think he(?) is just a random person that found the website and signed up. But maybe he will contribute anyways...

I finally got round to working on Zool again -- hey, look, it's Mike, and he's not dead -- so that might take me a week at the latest. Hopefully, expect me to tell you it's in the queue next Monday.

Speaking of Cool Spot (lrn2segue), I haven't had the time to put the effort in, but I will tell you that the first level is identical to the Mega Drive version. The second level, from what I've played, is starting to look identical, too. With a bit of luck, it'll stick to that formula, and we can cross-link it.

If that's the case, I'll take Alex Kidd. Wanted to FAQ the game for some time now. Now I have an excuse. I need a new mobo, so every little penny is useful.

Since my PSP was stolen, I'll have ton of time to write for SMS games.

Anyone tackling Aztec Adventure, the other game with a bounty? Had a quick play of it, seems like it would be easy enough if you save stated it (Got through the first level on my first try anyway, appears to be 10 levels). Haven't got the time right now for writing, so I'm sure someone will tackle it before I get a chance to.
