SMS Completion Project Part 2

Level 7 is not technically impossible, just quite difficult. I found the best way is to just hover around the middle of screen and only go for the ones which come in from the sides - I think there are 20 of these and you need 16 to pass (I got 17). Getting a perfect score is probably impossible though, yeah. Same with a few other levels though. Thought that level was level 6 but may be mistaken. --- ~ Ringworm ~ |

I'm going to start on Shooting Gallery. Hoping to write it in a week's time. Afterwards I'm going to see if Imperator still wants to Space Gun, otherwise I'm looking for Taz in Escape from Mars. |

Submitted Missile Defense 3-D. If I steal Space Gun from imperator, I can knock off the last light gun game from the list, but I won't do that 'cause I don't know if he is still active. |

We have set a rough limit of one year per claim. So maybe games contacts imperator before his claim is one year old on the 30th of november (18 days left) and lets you know if he is still actively writing on that guide. --- I don't care who your dad is! Planning on sending him/her an E-Mail on the 16/11/2010. Would love to see all the light-gun games covered by the end of this month, but I doubt that will happen. --- Sign for System Requirements/Recommendations for games: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=53203289 |

The game does have a complete video walkthrough so if he gives up his claim, it won't be a problem to cover it. In the meantime I'll see if I can find another fun game. I should also look for a new program to make movies, it is a weak point of Freeze SMS. |

You guys noticed that George Foreman's KO Boxing is a re-release of James 'Buster' Douglas Knockout Boxing? The EU release Heavyweight Champ only uses some generic boxer. This should be merge with the next site update. |

Someone should check if the pickle locations in Bonkers Wax Up are random or set. If they are random, a walkthrough would only need to address the specific differences between levels. Madame Who-Said has been coating famous Toons in wax to make statues for her Wax Museum, and the next victim will be Bonkers! Now he needs to stop her, free his pal Lucky and find the Toon Toaster to un-wax the Toons. In this platform game, the player controls Bonkers through several levels where he must find 7 pickle clues. By pressing the pause button, a compass is shown, with the number of remaining clues and the direction of the next one. Bonkers can run (by holding button 1), jump (button 2) , duck and slide (by running and pressing the opposite direction on the d-pad). Bonkers will find several items to restore his health (like cups of coffee, donuts, slices of pizza and badges) as well as some bonus items. He'll also find some of his friends, like Marylin, who'll show him the way to bonus levels, where he must find pieces of the Toon Toaster. In these bonus levels, Bonkers will ride a mine cart in a rail course, trying to collect items. After a row of sub-levels, Bonkers will have to fight a boss, usually villains from the TV show. |

Aerial Assault should be finished in a couple of hours, so expect two FAQs of mine in tomorrow's update. That should bring us closer to the last 100 guides. |

I have taken on Woody Pop too, but I already have three games selected so I can only select that one tomorrow. |

Just added the claim for you. Joni Philips. Good luck with Wonder Boy, as that game requires finding something like 100 dolls (it is recorded somewhere within the 2 topics) to reach a bonus level that is only on the SMS version of the game. --- Sign for System Requirements/Recommendations for games: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=53203289 |

Congrats on all the guides lately. Really sick of this tennis game, slowly getting through it, written the majority of the guide except for what happens if you finish grand slam mode. Getting very difficult to win by just trying to go through this mode - most opponents have stats approx 20 better than me in everything. Got two doubles tournaments and one singles tournament to go (9 matches), I'll do it one day. Should look for another game to write for before Joni writes for them all! Seriously, there's a few there you are welcome to, but there are also still quite a few decent games left. Probably leaning towards Space Harrier 3D as the next game I write for, just got to try it to see if it is much the same as the standard version (which is quite enjoyable) - if it is the same it could just be cross-linked though. Anybody know this? --- ~ Ringworm ~ |
Eternal_Debate | Posted 11/16/2010 12:35:30 AM | message detail |
Read the review here, seems it isn't the same, but similar. I will have a go at it tonight, if it seems enjoyable enough I will probably claim it. --- ~ Ringworm ~ |

The Dinosaur Dooley video walkthrough Stage 1-3 = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeeQq7TuSZ0&feature=related Stage 4 = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3Mx06vvuwA&feature=related Had this in my Favourites for a while and decided to share it with anyone that may want to take up this project. I would like to suggest to the person who takes this game that they find out it the "Rock, Paper, Scissors" games are random or not, and what would happen if you loose to those games. --- Sign for System Requirements/Recommendations for games: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=53203289 |

Dooley is not the same as the NES game? And some more you can strike from the list, these compilations will be covered when all individual games have FAQs: Game Box Serie Esportes (Great Volleyball, Wimbledon, World Cup Italia '90) Game Box Serie Corridas (Super Monaco GP, Super Cross, World Grand Prix) Game Box Serie Lutas (Shinobi, The Ninja, Kung Fu Kid) Looks like the only game part of these compilations not covered yet is Great Volleyball. Sports Pad Soccer is also the same as Great Soccer/World Soccer. |
Joni Philips | Posted 11/17/2010 7:13:24 AM | message detail |
Have you submitted a problem report to get those cross-linked? :) |
odino | Posted 11/17/2010 11:09:57 AM | message detail |
Data submission for these are in the queue, yes. There is no need to submit a report for cross-linking guides as the compilation data automatically does this :) |
Games | Posted 11/17/2010 11:28:26 AM | message detail |
I remember these 3 "Game Box" games being brought up in the past. Last time, the information about them being a 3-in-1 game based on games already released being submitted was not successful (can't remember why, think it might have to do with lack of sources). Sports Pad Soccer may have a slightly different control set, due to being a game that requires the Sports Pad controller. I would only suggest cross-linking these games instead of a merge, due to this quite significant difference in gameplay and requirements. --- Sign for System Requirements/Recommendations for games: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=53203289 |

But now GameFAQs has boxarts showing that these are compilations so it should work. ^^ |

Too late, and I think the control scheme only needs to be mentioned as I think the rest of the game is still the same. |

I have also selected Impossible Mission. The game is completely randomized so I need to think of a good strategy to cover it. |

I'm giving Mike one more week in the lead. Hope to pass him next weekend with Wonder Boy and probably Bomber Raid. If we work together, we can get down to 100 unfinished games by the end of the month. It is going to be 103 after this weekend. |

Joni, are you claiming Bomber Raid? If so, I can update that on the site for you now. I would be lying if I said I thought that I could get a SMS guide out before this month is over. However, I am hoping to complete the game I currently have claimed before the end of the year. I am also glad to see such activity still shown in this project after a year of running, and knowing that Mike has finished writing more guides may motivate me to get more guides that him. --- Sign for System Requirements/Recommendations for games: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=53203289 |

Had a look at the incomplete FAQ list on here and the completion project site, it is 102 on GF, 105 on the site. Difference is the three games listed as Cancelled (Hook, Pat Riley Basketball and Tecmo World Cup from memory). Seems you have everything listed. --- ~ Ringworm ~ |
Games | Posted 11/28/2010 10:32:56 PM | message detail |
Just to update this topic. We appeared to be missing the "S" game, Safari Hunt, I think. I know that it was a "S" game that was missing from the site's stats and that the game must have been covered. I definately knew that we were missing a complete guide, as (until today) we only had 229/334, while the site had 230/332. As ED mentioned, the project also includes 3 cancelled games that are not counted within GameFAQs' CP stats (so we should have +3 games to the calculated total stats) and we should at least always match GameFAQs' CP completed stats, which we were not. I have not been doing much work on my claimed guide atm, as I want to get a couple of other games completed before completing another SMS game. My plan is to get the claimed SMS game completed in January. --- Sign for System Requirements/Recommendations for games: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=53203289 |

I just found out that Bubble Bobble and Ecco the Dolphin are no longer crosslinked from another system. So I moved them over to the incomplete list again and they are free for grab (or are crosslinked again). The strange thing is, the FAQ page on the games is still there. Normally if a game has no FAQs the FAQ page is not linked at all. Is this a database error on GF side? --- I don't care who your dad is! Damn, this means that the stats on the website is wrong again. selmiak, would it be possible to add games that are already completed before this project to the website? I'm just thinking that, if we had a page for those games, we may be able to update the site more easily and not have to guess whether or not a change has happened. --- Sign for System Requirements/Recommendations for games: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=53203289 |

Okay, so I've started work on The Dinosaur Dooley and I reckon I can wrap this up in a couple of days. As for Bubble Bobble, you can take me off because that's gonna require someone with a lot more motivation than me (Joni I'm looking at you). Probably people are already aware of this but SMS Power (http://www.smspower.org/) has some pretty interesting material. Stuff to do with unreleased games and the like.
