So, I'm claiming Bubble Bobble.

TD, didn't you start writing for this game?

Just noticed I have written 15 guides for both the old and the new project. Depending on when Mass Effect 2 arrives, I should break my old 'record' next weekend or the weekend after that.

@selmiak, is there anyway to change the claim date on the website? I want to change my claim date to "01/01/2011" as I will be releasing the claim on that game if I do not finish it this year (and having that date will remind me of it).

Thanks for the change.

Only reason I could see is if someone wanted to renew their claim for a year, we could update the date for them. However, that could be achieved just by removing them from the game and then re-adding them. Think what I wanted to do was a one-off.

I was just wondering, how possible would it be for us to match the amount of guides this project done last February?

If I apply myself just to SMS games, I think I could get 2 guides done. However, there is at least 1 guide I want to complete before focusing on any SMS game (thus making my projected chance of completing 1 guide).

EDIT: Thinking about it, if someone completed Great Volleyball, they would also cover Game Box Serie Esportes. That would be 2 guides for the price of one. Also, TD's The Dinosaur Dooley guide only needs the last level + boss completed for another guide.

Saw on SMS Power that you were working on that endings guide Adam, good to see it released. I can probably help out with some endings as well if you need them.

I know this game has been mentioned in the past, however I believe that the guides for Lemmings are not really adequate for someone following it to be able to complete every level. For example, level 20 in Fun difficulty is called SEGA ONE in the SMS version and is completely different to the level described in the guides. Level 17 (Fun) is different too as another example - both guides recommend using floaters which are not available in the SMS version (you need to build over the traps instead). There are other differences too, these are some examples only.

Happy enough to write the guide for Lemmings if nobody else wants to, although I haven't finished the game, I had a feeling that someone else said they wanted to write for it in the first topic though (MikePenance maybe?) . Happy enough for someone else to write the guide if they really want to. Used to be one of my favourite games when I was growing up, so I'm sure I could play through it if nobody else wants to write for it.

Thanks guys. I am taking pics of the endings as I get them, but at some point with games I am stumped on I might require a file with a "save" on it near the ending.

I'm about to go through the Sonic games to record the endings with and without all the chaos emeralds collected.

I also emailed the author of the Astro Warrior FAQ, as he states that the version of Astro Warrior on the multicart with Hang-On actually has an ending. I played through the game 3 times and it did not, so I'm pretty sure that is not the case.

Might end up writing for Lemmings. Wasn't going to, but as I have next week off work, will give me something to do. Hopefully I won't get stuck on a level like what happened when I was younger, however with passwords available for every level, shouldn't be a major issue.

ED, I've updated the site to include your Lemmings claim.

Just to let everyone know, you can claim games that have been covered for another system on the website. Just go to the "Complete" section and scroll down to the "Completed by another guide" sub-section. From there, you can claim as normal.

@adaml, just looked through the screenshot contributions of the SMS games I have done and it appears I uploaded the ending screenshots for a few games (believe it was Scramble Spirits, Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Spiderman: Return of the Sinister Six). Might be worth a look.

Progress report on Megumi Rescue. Just been playing the game and it might appear that a certain item might only appear at a certain point in each level. This item can clear the level with ease and opens a minigame. Anyway, this may add more time than I expected on researching this game.

Megumi Rescue Progress.

Doing further research has enabled me to find out that the main items (Fire Extenisher, Key and Helicopter) appears to be stationary. This means that I will have to locate all of these items (and check for the other items are also stationary). This does mean the guide will probably take more than this year.

Just been playing Home Alone.

1) None of the current complete guides for any other console can be used to cover this version of the game. That does not mean that a new complete guide for a version that has not been covered so far (AMI, GG, PC or PS2) could not cover this game.

2) The version I have been playing has a bug on either levels 18 or 19, where the game does not end the level for some reason (this occurred when one of the villains escaped). Please check to see if your version (if you have a version) has the same problem.

I literally ran into one of the villains to end the level and he just froze. It didn't end the level, or stop me from moving or jumping. The level was just after a bonus level, btw.

@Eternal_Debate, just reached level 20. This is the first level where you have hidden items.

The game appears to be buggy (ie, freezing for no reason, stopping your ability to play the game). This has happened to be several times, so anyone deciding to write a guide for this game (Home Alone) should keep a few saves after clearing a level.

Ditto to that with Lemmings for me. Trying to get screenshots of every level solution (100 of the 120 levels anyway, seeing as you can only have 100 images in a FAQ), not a lot of fun. Taking longer than I thought it would. Got more respect for the people that submit a ton of images - takes a fair bit of cut and pasting even for smallish levels like those in Lemmings.

Hey guys. Just thought to let you know what I have done for Megumi Rescue.

I have discovered that certain items (like the "Key") are always kept at certain locations, while other items (like the "Coin") can be in any window.

Item abilities:

1UP = Extra Life
Fire Extinguisher = Restore Life Bar + Removes your from being on fire
Bounce Mat = Increases area of your bounce mat
Key = Automatic Completion of the level
Helicopter = Brings out a Helicopter

If you manage to grab onto the helicopter, you will have a minigame before the next level. The minigame involves you trying to use the helicopter to collect any falling items.

I will not be able to work on any guide for a couple of weeks from Saturday. If anyone wants to write a guide for this game within this time, be my guess.

Hi guys. Just posting a fact I found interesting.

Excluding Cancelled games, there are 20 games left to cover for both the US and JP release regions. Out of these 20 games, there are 11 games that would reduce that total for both regions. Here are those games:

After Burner
Blade Eagle 3-D
Global Defense
Great Basketball
Great Football
Great Ice Hockey
Great Volleyball
Space Harrier 3-D
Super Tennis
Transbot
Zaxxon 3-D

NOTE: Anyone that completes Great Volleyball will also cover Game Box Serie Esportes. If you are interested in stats, this would be worth an extra ½ coverage contribution for doing one guide.

So there would be no point writing a guide for a cancelled game right, as a guide wouldn't be accepted? It is clearly available in a certain form though, meaning it can be played. From what I read about the game, seems it would be an easy game to write for, pontless though if it wouldn't be accepted.

Just wondering if these should even be included in the project.

Cancelled games can in fact be covered. There are a number of cancelled NES games that were covered for the project. They don't show up on GameFAQs completion project listings in the features tab but as a sense of completion, cancelled games should also all be covered.

Don't **** with Da Hui
#343 | Games | Posted 5/29/2011 11:15:18 AM | message detail | quote
Personally, would prefer that Cancelled games were not included (in GameFAQs listings) at all. However, when they are, they can be covered and should be included in any CP.

The main problem comes when you have Cancelled games added to the database that you can not obtain at the moment (see last Gen consoles).

Think it is slightly different but haven't played it enough to be sure - not my type of game. From Wikipedia, bit hard to tell, but lists it as a separate version, similar to others (conversations different etc).

Noticed three games on the site were claimed over 12 months ago. Are these people still interested? (Andrew Shinn, Punisher x2 and Resident Evil Zombie (Tutankoopa)).

The SMS version of Ultima IV is quite different from the NES version, but broadly similar to the computer version. The major difference is that the SMS version uses a menu-based conversation system instead of a keyword-based one, but this shouldn't make a huge difference to gameplay.
