SMS FAQ Completion Project: Part 3
Welcome to the third Topic regarding the SMS Completion Project. Since the resumption of this project in October 2009, this project covered 111 guides for SMS games, leaving 66 games without an FAQ. Some games were added to the gamefaqs database of SMS games of the course of the project but that won't stop us. Maybe we can even get these last 66 games covered within the talk and range of this topic! As stated in the previous topic, I have cleared out a couple of claims. They are listed below: After Burner - vinheim - 16/08/2010 Alien Storm - Andrew Shinn - 25/04/2010 I have also updated the site to include the claims by tim_roast/TheMightyRoast for Senisble Soccer and odino for The Smurfs. Also, as this is a new topic, how is everyone getting on with their current SMS project? I have got a few sections of Great Volleyball done, but unsure if I will complete it by the end of today for tomorrow's upload. If it is not done this month, I will not be working on any guide until 18th October. With Daffy Duck, I am very confident on writing for the first couple of levels. how come? I recently found motivation to get bubble bobble done up to level 100, but this SMS version is the only version of the game that has 200 levels, which made my motivation go away pretty fast. And I got some other projects atm, but this will get done, no matter what! and jfyi: the old topic is archived on the project page! --- I don't care who your dad is! For tonight, I just have too much to do to complete the guide. I also have a test booked in for the 18th October, so I will be too busy to do anything else. Sensible soccer - wrote out all the controls and menus. Just need to play the actual game now to try and work out the best ways of winning. World Cup USA 94 - the menus are all pictures and there are loads of them so it is taking me a long time to work out what they are. If anyone has the manual they could scan for me...? Hence why I am delaying this one in favour of others (like sensible soccer above). |
Smurfs, Level 10, I thought it would be shorter but seems another 5 levels or so. |

As an added bonus I made a guide for High School! Kimengumi (more common spelling by the way). Should still count for this month even if it is not posted till Monday ;) Weird I never noticed here is a translation for it until today. That just leaves Tensai Bakabon for games needing to know Japanese? |
@IceQueen hopefully I won't need that good for nothing Sports Pad anymore Wouldn't happen to have BMX Trial Alex Kidd by any chance? It uses the pad too. |

Already had submitted it when I posted last time. Short game. Will try to do Smurfs 2 but don't know much about the game right now and I don't want to commit to anything yet. I think it's not as easy as the first one. Maybe someone can recommend another platformer too? |
Below are some good platformers I would recommend people play that still require a guide [alphabetical order]: Daffy Duck in Hollywood (I am willing to remove my claim if someone else is interested in writing for it) Desert Speedtrap (Look on Youtube for a brilliant video series for the GameGear version) Hook RoboCop 3 (If same as GameGear version) RoboCop Versus The Terminator I have not included Bubble Bobble as that has been claimed by selmiak. EDIT: I am not sure about The Smurfs around the World as I have not played it. I claimed 4 games but I'm taking a break this week after that power surge of last month. If the project is finished, SB should do something special. Like give a $50 bounty to a guide chosen at random amongst the written guides for the project. Or among all guides for the console. |
Still a long way until the project is finished I think. But just done my little bit to help. Sensible soccer is submitted. |

I wasn't sure they'd be accepted and were in the queue for like days and days. I checked through all these korean dumps and only these 4 seem like non-hacked games. Sorry I didn't post the list earlier. |
Cyborg Z is another one I missed that was added, so I think there are 5 games added. But I'm still not convinced that it is all of them. SMSPower has a list of Korean exclusives in their database: http://www.smspower.org/Tags/KoreanExclusive?sid=28292e5308fcb80526971a187290f2a5 Surely not all of these are hacks of other games? I'll leave others to sort through them. |
Pretty much just unofficial MSX ports. The upside is that adding them you could play the MSX version which is probably easier to obtain than the Korean SMS dump :) |
How strange, it seems Black Belt is without a guide. The guide must've been deleted by the owner because I know for a fact there was one. What the hell, I'll claim it and write one for that game. |
